POPLAR BLUFF -- Charlene E. Armes, 86, died Nov. 23, 2005, in the Oakdale Care Center.
Born Feb. 20, 1919, at Dexter, daughter of the late John Webb and Zelia Barham Baker, she was a homemaker and a member of the Essex Missionary Baptist Church.
On Dec. 25, 1937, at Dexter, she married George Wilbur Armes who preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 1986.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: four brothers, Ray Baker, Clay Baker, George Baker and Melvin Baker; four sisters, Elma Bess, Ione McClard, Hallie Crutcher and Betty Triplett; and one grandchild.
Survivors include: two sons, Joe Armes of Hamilton and Charles Armes of Excelsior Springs; two daughters, Willene Phillips of Nederland, Texas, and Linda Marshall of Poplar Bluff; and 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon Saturday until time for services at 2 p.m. at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. David Hardin officiating.
Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
