LILBOURN - A meeting was held this week in the city hall for planning of a Junior Chamber of Commerce here. Meeting with the group were five members of the Portageville Jaycees, who are assisting in the establishment of a charter.

JEFFERSON CITY - The staff of the Missouri Lottery told the Missouri State Lottery Commission they are making progress toward the Jan. 31 start date. "We're moving on a very fast track right now, and we are on time," said Executive Director Jim Holmes. The commission also met with members of the Black Caucus. They requested the lottery continue their efforts in this area.

SIKESTON - Johnny Martin has recently taken first place in the last two martial arts tournaments he has entered under the leadership of Woodrow Speed. Martin finished first in the Kentucky Classics, bringing home an impressive 3.5-foot trophy. Two weeks later he brought home a 4-foot trophy from the Budweiser Classic Triple B.B.B rated tournament.

NEW MADRID - The Dixie Players, sponsored by the Dixie Arts Council, will present their "Winter Magic" show at 7 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Dixie Theatre in New Madrid. This show will feature a lineup of Dixie Players to present music and entertainment for the winter season.
