SHS girls fall to Farmington; Kelly routs E.P.

FARMINGTON - The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs basketball team traveled to Farmington on Monday night and took one on the chin, with a 84-38 loss.

The Lady Bulldogs trailed 46-17 at halftime and could not get into rhythm all night long.

Allison Blurton led Sikeston in scoring with 11 points. Sophomore Martika Davis was the only other double-digit scorer for the Lady Bulldogs with 10 points. Amber Minner hit two 3-pointers on her way to eight points on the night.

Sikeston (2-3) will be back in action tonight as they will play in the championship game of the Lady Devils Tournament in Chaffee. At 8:30 p.m., Sikeston takes on Delta.

EAST PRAIRIE - The Kelly Lady Hawks basketball team picked up an early road victory, as they defeated East Prairie 69-34.

The Lady Hawks jumped out quick on the Lady Eagles and led 38-13 heading into the half. Kelly was never threatened, as the Lady Hawks outscored East Prairie by 10 in the third quarter and cruised to the big victory.

Freshmen Debra Hall had another outstanding performance, as she led Kelly with 24 points. Brittany Ponder poured in 16 points and Katee Moore scored 10 points.

Brittany Woodward led the Lady Eagles with 14 points and Madlyn Brannan chipped in with 10 points.

Kelly (3-1) will face Oran at Chaffee in the third place game of the Lady Devils Tournament at 7 p.m.

ORAN -- The Oran Lady Eagles used an early third-quarter spurt to put distance between them and Scott County Central in a Scott-Mississippi County Conference matchup on Monday.

Oran (3-2) defeated Scott Central 42-33 for its second win over the Bravettes.

Holding a slim one-point lead at 19-18 at the half, the Eagles scored the first six points of the second half.

Tiffany Glastetter led the Eagles with 18, 10 in the second half, and Erica Michelson added 12.

Brittney Peet was the lone double-digit scorer for the Bravettes with 13.
