HAYTI - A federal grand jury has indicted 40 defendants, including a Southeast Missouri woman, for participation in an organization responsible for transporting methamphetamine from Arizona to Missouri, Arkansas and Texas for distribution and related offenses.
Kristy Castelli, 36, from Caruthersville, was indicted Dec. 7 on conspiracy to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine. The crime is punishable by not less than 10 years, nor more than life in prison and/or a fine of up to $4 million.
She was also indicted for conspiracy to launder drug proceeds for conducting financial transactions designed to transfer the proceeds from the sale of methamphetamine to pay the suppliers of the meth. This is punishable by not more than 20 years in prison and/or a $500,000 fine.
The investigation in Missouri was conducted by Drug Enforcement Administration with assistance of the Bootheel Drug Task Force. The investigation is ongoing with several more indictments possible, officials stated in a news release.
