DEXTER - Dr. Robert Ellis Jibben, 81, died Dec. 8, 2005, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.

Born Sept. 15, 1924, at Kirksville, he was the son of the late Gustave Robert and Mildred Holliday Jibben.

Dr. Jibben maintained an active family practice in Dexter from 1953 until 1996. He was appointed First Chief of Staff of Dexter Memorial Hospital, a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Dexter and a member of Dexter Rotary Club and Boy Scouts of America.

On Dec. 21, 1947, in Kirksville, he was united in marriage to Noemy Gomez Castillo and to this union four children were born. Mrs. Jibben reisdes of the home in Dexter.

In addition to his wife, Noemy Jibben of Dexter, survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Dr. Robert Joaquin and Laurie Jibben of Dexter and John Joseph Jibben, also of Dexter; one daughter and son-in-law, Cecilia Marie and Shane Wagoner of Nixa; one sister, Joyce Wasson of Joplin; and three grandchildren, Benjamin Jibben Wagoner and Lisa Marie Wagoner, both of Nixa, and Amelia Marie Jibben of Dexter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Lucy Nannette Jibben.

Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Monday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. The Revs. Vaughn Wright and Louis Lowe will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
