EAST PRAIRIE - Betty June Kirby-High, 75, died Jan. 18, 2006, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Aug. 25, 1930, in Anniston, daughter of the late Sidney Herbert and Nellie Fern Grounds Grubbs, she had worked as a service girl in the Prefit Department with Brown Shoe Co.
On Feb. 12, 1946, in East Prairie, she married James Luther Kirby who preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1991. On Oct. 16, 2004, in East Prairie, she married Riley "Slim" High, who survives.
Survivors include: two sons, Jim Kirby of Weiner, Ark., and Ernie Kirby of East Prairie; one daughter, Jane Childers of East Prairie; three brothers, Kenneth Grubbs of St. Clair and Jean Grubbs and Jerry Grubbs, both of East Prairie; 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and first husband she was preceded in death by: two daughters, Glenda Martin and Carolyn Nunn; five brothers, including two infant brothers, Ray Grubbs, Mickey Grubbs and Chester Grubbs; and three sisters, Opal, Jewel and Maxine.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at St. James General Baptist Church in East Prairie, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday with the Rev. David Dowdy officiating.
Burial will follow in the Anniston Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Jerry Grubbs Jr., David Kirby, Mike Grubbs, Tony Grubbs, Charles Moore and Sean Alread.
