POPLAR BLUFF -- Dorene Johnson, 73, formerly of Sikeston, died Sept. 30, 2007, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Born June 4, 1934, in Socorro, N.M., she was pastor of the Lighthouse Mission Church in Poplar Bluff. She had retired as executive director of the Sikeston Bootheel Food Bank, which served 16 counties. She had been a member of the Sikeston Salvation Army and Sikeston Chamber of Commerce, as well as numerous other committees and boards.
On April 1, 1969, in Poplar Bluff, she married Ray G. Johnson, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include one daughter, Susan Griffith of Killeen, Texas; three sons, Kenneth Hinds of San Antonio and Allen Hinds and Harold Johnson of Sikeston; two sisters, Clara Todd of Sweethome, Ore. and Sis Givens of Socorro; two brothers, Carter Knowlton of Sacramento, Calif. and Richard Knowlton of Winkelman, Ariz.; and 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Vernon Parker will officiate.
Burial will follow at Brown Chapel Cemetery in Broseley.
