CHARLESTON - Maureen Cox Sutherland, 84, died Oct. 1, 2007, at the Charleston Manor.
Born Oct. 7, 1922, in Diehlstadt, to the late Joseph Louis and Katherine Olive Maynard Cox, she lived most of her life in Mississippi County, where she was a member of the Charleston United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
On Oct. 26, 1945, she married Harry H. Sutherland, who preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 2001.
Also preceding her in death were: one son, Harry David Sutherland; one daughter, Nancy Sutherland; and three brothers, Weldon Cox, Russell Cos and Joseph Cox Jr.
Survivors include: one brother, Donald Cox of Panama City, Fla.; one sister, Alice Burke of Charleston; four grandchildren, Kristi Hanor Hamrick of Lincoln, Calif., Lynne Hanor Ferrell of Minneapolis, Sarah Sutherland Leighninger of Springfield and Capt. Ross Sutherland of Sacramento; and one great-grandson.
Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Charleston, with the Rev. Roger Jespersen, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Stephen Burke, Tim Burke, Weldon E. Cox, Kelly Butler, Mike McIlroy and Buz Sutherland.
