APPLE VALLEY, Calif. - Virginia Batis Bienert, 76, died at 11:25 a.m.. June 26, 1999, at her home.

Born March 2, 1923, in Waco, Texas, to the late Joseph and Mamie Batis, she was a homemaker and member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Apple Valley.

For 54 years she was married to Albert R. Bienert, 89, who died at 3:15 a.m. July 4, 2007, at Kindred Hospital in Ontario.

Born May 8, 1918, in Chaffee, Mo., to the late George Henry and Emma Enderle Bienert, he was a retired lieutenant colonel with the U.S. Air Force. A graduate of Chaffee High School, he was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Apple Valley, Elks and Optimist Clubs, V.F.W. and Disabled American Vets.

He is survived by one sister, Dorothy Varnado of Gilmer, Texas,

The couple's survivors include: three sons, George A. Bienert of Peachtree City, Ga., John Michael Bienert of Pocatello, Idaho and Anthony Russell Bienert of Oak HIlls; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee, followed by military graveside services conducted by Chaffee V.F.W. Post No. 3127.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Home of Chaffee is in charge of arrangements.
