ESSEX - Lora Pauline Friday, 98, died Dec. 2, 2005, at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Facility in Dexter.
Born Nov. 27, 1907, in Jerusalem, Ark., daughter of the late Grover Garland and Gertrude Dane Melton Hillis, she was a homemaker and had lived in Texas for many years before moving to Essex. She was a member of the Sweeney Baptist Church in Sweeney, Texas, and had been a resident of Cypress Point Healthcare for the past two years.
In 1928, she married Guy Friday, who preceded her in death.
Four brothers, Earl Garland Hillis, Carl Joseph Hillis, Harl Franklin Hillis and Bervil Garlans Hillis; and two sisters, Viva J. Sexton and Oral Lee Hillis, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one brother, Durrell Hillis of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; two sisters, Vida Marie Carmichael of Tucson, Ariz., and Ida Ellen Kendell of Pocahontas, Ark.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. James Malloy of Essex will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
