MOREHOUSE - Maerene Parks, 67, died May 22, 2006, at her home in Morehouse.

Born Dec. 31, 1938, in Hardin County, Tenn., daughter of the late William Albert and Ermadean (Flippo) Hurley, she had worked for International Shoe Company in Sikeston and was of the Baptist faith.

On Dec. 31, 1955, at Hernando, Miss., she married John Landon Parks, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Phillip Eugene Parks and Scottie Dale Parks, both of Morehouse; one daughter, Phyllis Parr of Fremont; two brothers, James William Hurley of Dandridge, Tenn. and Larry Lynn Hurley of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Paula Curry of St. Charles; seven grandchildren, Kristalyn Snider of Michigan, Jamie Williams, Beth Ann Massey, Sarah Parks and Scott Landon Parks of Morehouse and Angalina Parks and Paul Landon Parks of Pennsylvania; and four great-grandchildren, Matthew Snider and Eric Snider of Michigan and Dillion Williams and Emily Massey of Morehouse. One sister, Doris Cannon, preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ponder Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Dewayne Coleman, pastor of Canalou Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery at Dexter.
