CAIRO, Ill. - Sara Guetterman, 84, died Feb. 24, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born May 31, 1921, in Cairo, daughter of the late Alex and Mary Farah Johnson, she had worked at McKesson and Robbins. In 1946, she and her husband owned and operated Jack Guetterman Grocery for 22 years before purchasing the Chrysler-Plymouth Dealership in Cairo. She served as President of Guetterman Motors and received numerous "Excellence Awards" in Customer Service, was an active member of Cairo First Presbyterian Church, the Syrian-American Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
In 1945, she married Jack Guetterman who preceded her in death.
One sister, Alice, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Jack C. and Sandra Guetterman Jr. of Cairo; three brothers, George E. Johnson and Alex Johnson Jr. of Cairo, and Johnny Johnson of Tarpin Springs, Fla.; two sisters, Rose Nasser and Dorothy Johnson of Cairo; and two grandchildren and one stepgrandchild.
Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Cairo First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Kelly Cox and Dr. Larry L. Potts officiating.
