MALDEN -- Robert Aaron "Bob" Ayers, 76, died Jan. 1, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Jan. 5, 1931, at Bragg City, he was the son of the late Fitch Ayers and Julia M. Williams Ayers Thornton.
In 1949, he married Alberta Simpson who died Oct. 18, 1981. In 1972, he married Essie Mae Thomas and she died in 1988.
One brother, Calvin "Billy" Thornton, and one sister, Emma Ayers, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, John and Pamela Ayers of Cape Girardeau; four daughters, Ruth Ann Ayers of Independence, Doris Jones of Kansas City, Belinda Ayers of Malden and Inez Jones of Milwaukee; five brothers, Clarence Ayers and Bobby Thornton of Malden, Perry Thornton of Essex, Jessie Thornton of Sikeston and Jake Ayers of Miami; two sisters, Betty Harris of Elkhart, Ind., and Mary Underwood of Malden; a special friend, Dorothy Moore of Malden; and 14 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Landmark Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Johnny Thomas officiating.
Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery in Malden.
