HORSESHOE BEND, Ark. -- Paul Franklin "Pete" Morphis, 72, died Dec. 4, 2005, at Southwestern Regional Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla.
Born Nov. 12, 1933, in Searcy County, son of the late Ottis Egbert and Lessie Leola Yancey Morphis, he was a general agent for Lincoln Life Insurance Company for 25 years, earning a CLU designation. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a deacon and treasurer at the Ridgewood Church of Christ in Beaumont, Texas. In 1994, at the Salem Church of Christ, he began missionary work in Romania.
On Apr. 3, 1952, in Piggott, he married Helen Ruth Lambert who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Margie Caspersen of Jacksonville, Fla., and Paula Morphis of Horseshoe Bend; two brothers, Edward Morphis of Mountain View and Billy Bates Morphis of Longview, Texas; one sister, Elsie Anderson of Taylors, S.C.; and one grandson, Paul D. Morphis of Conway.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; one brother, John I. Morphis; and one sister, LaVada Bond.
Services were conducted today at the Salem Church of Christ.
A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Blodgett Church of Christ.
Burial will follow in Blodgett Cemetery under the direction of the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
