SIKESTON - The minutes of the September Park Board meeting were approved at the city council meeting. Among the items covered was a suggestion that the city develop three-acres behind the Hunter Memorial First Presbyterian Church for a public park area and construct a fence between the junior high school and its three tennis courts.

SIKESTON - The son of Donnie and Mildred Burnham of Caruthersville, delivered by Dr. Karl Killion at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday, became the new record-

breaking baby at Missouri Delta Medical Center. The Burnham boy, named Shawn Paul, was the 81st baby of September, breaking the 1976 birth record of 80 babies born in one month. He weighed in at 8 pounds, 5 ounces at birth and was 20 1/2 inches long. The baby will be presented with a MDMC sweatsuit and a baby memory book.

SIKESTON - Construction work on the future home of Lambert's Cafe, one of Sikeston's favorite tourist attractions, began this week.

SIKESTON - A reception was hosted by Ken and Vicki Rubenacker at the Klein House to meet Tammy Ditto Carlyle, the new executive director of the Sikeston-Miner Convention and Visitors Bureau.

SIKESTON - A hungry burglar broke in the Dolly Madison store, 620 S. Kingshighway, sometime between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday. After prying the back door open, the burglar removed 24 yellow zingers, 20 chocolate donuts and 10 cinnamon rolls for a total estimated theft of $36.10.
