EAST PRAIRIE - Jewell Lee Britt, 90, formerly of Charleston, died at 12:25 p.m. Jan. 6, 2006, at the East Prairie Nursing Center.
Born Sept. 13, 1915, in Mississippi County to the late Richard P. and Nora E. Campbell Britt, he served with the United States Army during World War II. He returned to Mississippi County and was employed as a barge worker until his retirement and was of the Pentecostal belief.
Survivors include: one son, Wayne Britt of Oklahoma; three daughters, Shirley Britt of Tennessee and Dorothy Britt and Yvonne Britt, both of California; one sister, Edith Forrest of East Prairie and several grandchildren.
Three brothers, Ralph Britt, Herbert Britt and Edgar Britt; and three sisters, Lillie Shively, Almeda Morris and Virgie Faire preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. Monday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Steve Johnson, pastor of the Victory Baptist Church in East Prairie, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
