Sikeston man, wanted for part in shooting, turns himself in

Monday, October 22, 2007

BENTON -- A Sikeston man wanted for his involvement in an Oct. 15 shooting in Sikeston has turned himself into authorities.

Ulyses Neal IV, 18, turned himself in on several charges about 1:25 p.m. Saturday to the Scott County Sheriff's Department in Benton. Neal was wanted for three counts of first degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and first degree property damage.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. Oct. 15 near School and Dorothy streets in Sikeston when Josh Jones, 22, of Sikeston was shot in the right shoulder. Officials have said it appeared the shots were preceded by an ongoing feud between several individuals, which erupted at the Sikeston High School volleyball game earlier in the evening.

Neal, who is the fourth suspect in jail for the incident, is being held at the Scott County Jail on $100,000 cash bond. Two subjects, whose names were not released pending the investigation, were arrested early Tuesday; and Brandon Wright, 18, of Sikeston was arrested Thursday night.
