SIKESTON - Leon Travis, 77, died at 7 p.m. Sept. 25, 2007, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born Jan. 11, 1930, in Lilbourn, to the late Lawrence Eugene and Mary Mae Evans Travis, he was a farmer and worked as a mechanic for Richland School District, Noranda Aluminum, J.C. Penney Auto Center and Ryder Truck Company. He was a member of the Temple of Faith General Baptist Church in Sikeston.

On Feb. 24, 1951, in New Madrid, he married Bonnie Louise Riggs who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: four sons, Burley Joe "B.J." Stockton of Hillsboro, Odis Leonard Younger Jr., Michael Leon Travis and Elgin Alexander Travis of Sikeston; two daughters, Bonnie Kincade and Barbara Raines of Sikeston; two sisters, Wanda Chapman and Melba Welman of St. Louis; and 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Loy Miller, pastor of Temple of Faith Baptist Church, and the Rev. Millie Burns, pastor of the House of Prayer General Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Derek Kincade, Tony Hays, Chris Travis, Tim Edger, David Stockton and Matt Younger.
