SIKESTON -- Monday afternoon, as the clouds rolled in over the Sikeston Sports Complex, so did the Scott City Lady Rams as they shaded the Sikeston Lady Bulldogs from victory with a 15-3 win.

The Lady Rams jumped out early in the game, breaking a scoreless tie in the top of the second. Having two on and two out Scott City's Jennifer Aubuchon laced the line with a triple down first base. Becky Holder then drove in Aubuchon on a RBI single to take a 3-0 advantage.

"You've got to give a lot of credit to Scott City," said Sikeston coach Tiffany King, "They hit really well, found the gaps and kept the ball in play."

In the top of the third, Lady Ram Lauren Schaefer started off the inning, trying to continue the momentum her team found in the second. She got the action started with a led off single followed by a stolen base. A sacrifice bunt moved Schaefer over to third and she continued her way home, crossing the plate on a fielder's choice.

This proved to be all the Lady Rams needed although they continued their balanced attack throughout the game putting up nine more runs in the game.

"The score doesn't reflect how well our ladies can play," said King, "We just need to get more aggressive on our fundamentals and especially with our throwing."

The Lady 'Dogs would not be shut out however as they made their way on the scoreboard in the fifth. Kaitlyn Turnbow led off the inning of with a flare triple to the outfield. She then made her way across the plate on a sacrifice fly by Kelsie Cooper.

Sikeston tacked on two more runs in the sixth after a one out single by Kayla Schearer who was later batted in by Krystal Henson for the RBI. Later in the inning, Henson rounded all the bases as she crossed the plate on fielder's choice by Mary Deason.

Sarah Hopson pitched six and two-thirds innings for Sikeston, with one strikeout while giving up 13 hits, two walks, and only two earned runs. Deason came on to get the final out while allowing just one walk.

"I keep telling my girls to keep their heads up," said King, "We've only got three games left and then we begin our district tournament."

The Lady 'Dogs look to turn their luck around before the regular season ends as they travel to East Carter County to take on the Lady Redbirds today. First pitch begins at 4 p.m.
