More charges filed against aide

CARUTHERSVILLE -- Three new felony charges have been filed in connection with an investigation that began about three months ago involving a teacher's aide at the South Pemiscot School District.

According to a news release issued Thursday by Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell, Michael Willard Smith, 51, was charged with three counts of sexual misconduct involving a child less than 14 years old. These new charges are part of an ongoing investigation with investigators from the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri State Technical Assistance Team.

More details are expected in the next couple of weeks, the news release said.
