Burglary suspects, fugitives arrested

Sunday, June 24, 2007

BENTON - Scott County deputies not only solved two burglaries, arresting three suspects, but also took two wanted fugitives into custody during an investigation.

Charged with the burglary of two Scott County residences are Gary F. Gray, 27; Timothy Q. Ingram, 20, and Travis W. Moit, 25, all of Benton. Each is charged with two counts of burglary and stealing with bond set at $7,500 each.

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reported the burglaries happened Tuesday in the Benton/Morley area.

The stolen property, which included several guns, a television, a knife collection, prescription medication and other items, was recovered. Statements were obtained from the suspects in the cases, according to the sheriff.

"There is a possibility that we also have one or more unreported burglaries out there that these suspects were involved in," Walter said in a news release issued Friday evening.

During a search for stolen property at one of the suspect's houses, officers found two wanted fugitives. Also arrested were John Lewis, 18, of Benton, who had an outstanding Scott County warrant of forgery; and Robert A. Christian, 23, of Benton, who was wanted by the Missouri Department of Corrections as a parole absconder.

The department would not verify whether the suspects remained in Scott County jail as of Saturday.
