SIKESTON - Robert Conrad, star of the CBS hit "Wild, Wild West" and Grand Ole Opry recording artist Molly Bee will perform at the 15th annual Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo Aug. 10-13. Miss Bee will perform in all shows while Conrad will appear Aug. 11-13.

SIKESTON - The Rev. Charles E. Buck has been appointed senior pastor of the First United Methodist Church effective June 1. The appointment was made by Missouri Area United Methodist Bishop W.T. Handy Jr.


EAST PRAIRIE - Annexation, liquor license renewals and the placement of a mobile home for storage purposes were among agenda items for the Thursday evening meeting of the City Council. Preceding the business meeting was the presentation of the June Community Service Award. Staff members received individual certificates.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Junior American Legion team collected a pair of victories over the Cape Girardeau Junior American Legion team, Wednesday, at Sikeston's VFW Field, winning the first game 8-4 and dominating the second game of the double header, 9-2.


SIKESTON - Team 18A, from Sikeston, consisting of Danny Bridger, Glen Alexander, Jim Warf and Chris Alberts received, for their efforts on the par 72 golf course, a trip to the 1998 Hooters Hula Bowl in Honolulu.


SIKESTON - Jennifer Howell, daughter of Pat and Joe Howell of Sikeston, was crowned Miss Springfest May 31, 1997. Second alternate was Ginny Starr, daughter of Virginia Starr of Sikeston, and first alternate was Nikki Hoover, daughter of Susan Coburn of Dexter.
