PORTAGEVILLE - James McFerrin, 82, died Sept. 22, 2006, at his home.
Born Jan. 28, 1924, at Perkins, Ark., he was the son of the late John and Veola Randolph McFerrin.
On June 30, 1999, at Grand Rapids, Mich., he married Rozetta Fields who survives of the home.
Survivors include: six sons and one daughter-in-law, Ossie and Ruby McFerrin of St. Louis, James McFerrin Jr. and Barnard McFerrin of Chicago, Javonte McFerrin of Portageville, Jeffery Scott of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Jimmy Gooden of Osceola, Ark.; six daughters and three sons-in-law, Jannie Miller of St. Louis, Essie and Gerald Bell of Wentzville, Brianna McFerrin of Portageville, Serida and Barnard Davis of Grand Rapids, Lovie Faye Weakley of Kansas City and Betisha and Ricky Yeager of Dumbrie, Va.; two stepsons and one stepdaughter-in-law, James and Lisa Fields and Richard Fields; three stepdaughters, Michelle Ivy, Stephanie Fields and Margaret Fields; three brothers, Herman McFerrin and Eddie B. McFerrin of Gary, Ind., and Clarence Lee McFerrin of Kalamazoo, Mich.; and three sisters, Emma Roberson of Portageville, Veola Battle of Gary and Earnestine Williams of Kalamazoo; 32 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Jerry Ward.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Friday at the Zion Rock Missionary Baptist Church. The Revs. Raymond Roberson and Robert Anderson will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Daniel Roberson, Sidney Roberson, James Fields, Kenny McFerrin, Clarence Roberson Jr. and Raymond Roberson.
DeLisle Funeral Home of Portageville is in charge of arrangements.
