SIKESTON -- Velma Louise Waldman, 82, died at 1:45 a.m. Jan. 29, 2008, at the Miner Nursing Center.
Born June 15, 1925, in Portageville, to the late Coy and Della Mae Wilkerson Chappell, she was a housewife and a member of the Smith Avenue Church of God.
On Dec. 12, 1965, in Sikeston, she married Roy Edward Waldman who preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 2003.
Three brothers also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Glida Isenhower of Sikeston; one daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Kenny Douglas of Sikeston; two brothers, Jim Earl Chappell of Sikeston and Jerry Chappell of St. Louis; one sister, Wanda Jean Chappell of Sikeston; one grandson and his wife, William and Lesley Williams of Wappapello; four great-grandchildren, Britney Parker and Christina Parker of Sikeston and Chesley Williams and Whitney Williams of Wappapello; and one great-great-grandson, Noah Glen of Sikeston.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Ira Sandefer, pastor of the Smith Avenue Church of God, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Sikeston City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Richard Copeland, Forrest Copeland, Rocky Chappell, Dewey Davidson, Dewey Davidson Jr. and David Young.
Honorary pallbearer will be Roger Beck.
