ESSEX -- Christine Combs, 71, died Jan. 25, 2008 at St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
Born Sept. 20, 1936, in Aromeral, Ark., to the late Excheck and Grace Hester Childress, she had lived her entire life in Southeast Missouri, including 65 years in Essex. She was a member of the Powerhouse Church of God in Christ for 20 years.
Surviving are: one daughter, Cynthia Combs of Huntsville, Ala.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Elsie Hester of Florissant, Robert and Beth Hester of Denver and Michael and Deborah Hester of St. Louis; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Susan and Hartlee Tillman of Poplar Bluff and Sandra and Terry Hester of Huntsville, Ala.; two stepsons, Charles Combs of Joliet, Ill., and Michael Combs of Sikeston; one brother, Lee Hester of Essex; and five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, 20 stepgrandchildren and nine great-
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Bearice Davis and Volla Bonner.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter until time for services at 2 p.m. Saturday. Ronnie Webb of Poplar Bluff will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Sunset of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
