Speakout 8/22

Tuesday, August 22, 2006

I was wondering if any school in the area is giving computer lessons? Anyone or any school in the area within 20 miles of the Sikeston area.

I was reading SpeakOut today and I don't agree with the one that says the farmer gets it all. It's not the farmer, it's the teachers. That's whose getting all the money these days. Quit running down the farmer. If it wasn't for the farmer you wouldn't have food on your table or clothes on your back. Furthermore, if you don't like the way farmers do in America, move to China and see how you like it.

I would like to speak out about the school lunches and the selling of sodas at school. I'm sorry but I don't agree with this new policy of the school such as no soda sold and desserts only on Friday. I would also like to know who determines these new policies at the school. If it is some of these people on the school board I think I am going to have to switch my vote next time there is an election. This is America, not Russia. Why don't they let the parents decide if they want or don't want their children to have a soda or a dessert? If we don't want them to, we won't give them the money to get these things. And if they have their own money then they are old enough to decide what they want to eat. I just think these new policies are ridiculous.

I'd like to say thank you to that very dear Christian lady at Food Giant yesterday that saw that I had a baby with me and couldn't afford the milk so she gave me the money for it. I wish that there were more people like that around. I really appreciate her. God bless her.

I'd like to remind the people of Sikeston that their money is going to have these vacant lots mowed. I don't think it's fair that we have to pay taxes to keep their city lots kept up because they won't sell them for taxes or anything like that. We pay people to mow and tear down houses that they don't want people to move in to when there ain't nothing wrong with them. The city just comes in and takes everything over. We have to pay for it. I wish you would print this so everybody would know what happened to their tax money.
