SIKESTON -- When it comes to rodeo fashion, the accessories are just as important as clothes. "I sell a lot of leather purses," said Linda West, owner of Linda's Western Store. One popular style is chocolate and pink.
Belts are also a must-have for men and women, with cow-hair styles, big buckles and, again, sparkly ones available to buy.
"We've done quite a bit of belts with cow-hair," said Kersten Tibbs, co-owner of C Bar K. "And we've sold a lot of kids belts with bull rider and barrel racer buckles."
The silver western-style earrings, watches, bracelets, necklaces and buckles are other hot purchases.
When it comes to boots, traditional blacks and browns colors sell for men and women, although West noted she also sells quite a few pink and red styles to women.
Hats are also a must-have. "The square-top hat is in," Tibbs said of men's fashions. Once again, neutral tans and black colors are most popular, West and Tibbs agreed.
There are some colored and more trendy styles of crushable hats that are a bit less expensive, West added, and girls often wear pink Justin ball caps, too. "I sell more girls ball caps than I do men's," West said.
Some even try to dress up their horses, buying saddles and other tack in colors like hot pink, purple and lime green. "Color is in -- especially the neon colors," West said.
Tibbs agreed: "All the tack the younger girls and guys are going with are the bright colors."
