CAPE GIRARDEAU -- A Scott County man was sentenced to prison on felony drug charges.
Robert Lee Jones, 28, of Sikeston, was sentenced to 188 months on one felony count of possession of cocaine base with intent to distribute during an appearance Tuesday in U.S. District Court.
Previously with his plea, Jones admitted that on or about Feb. 23, 2007, a search warrant was executed at his residence in Sikeston.
Ten grams of a substance containing cocaine base (also referred to as "crack"), digital scales and $385 U.S. currency were seized during the search. The cocaine base was wrapped in plastic and placed in a sock, which was hidden behind the washing machine in the laundry room of the residence. Jones directed law enforcement officers to the location in the laundry room where the cocaine base was hidden and admitted that it was his.
Additionally, Jones admitted that he has at least two prior felony convictions.
Upon release from prison, Jones will be placed on supervised release for a period of four years.
