Chappell, Reischman win Morley 5K run

MORLEY -- Eric Chappell and Sarah Reischman won the individual honors Saturday at the Morley Fall Festival 5K.

Chappell, competing in the 16- to 20-year-old men's division, finished in 22 minutes, 37 seconds.

Reischman clocked 28:22 while running in the 12- to 15-year-old girls division.

Logan Riggins was the top finisher in 1-mile run, finishing in 7:57. Madeline McDonald won the women's competition in 8:14.

SIKESTON -- David Leonard of Scott City settled for second place in a field of 150 cars on Saturday night in the super pro class at Sikeston Drag Strip.

The large field was attracted by a $5,000 double-entry purse.

Leonard, who reached the super pro final for the second straight week, lost to Gary Summers of Dexter by fractions of a second as both drivers broke out by beating their dial-in times.

Leonard bettered his dial-in of 6.92 by nine/one-thousandths of a second, while Summers was closer to his dial-in, bettering his time by three/one-

thousandths.

Leonard averaged 96.96 miles per hour.
