EAST PRAIRIE - Robert Ford Skaggs, 81, died at 9 p.m. Feb. 18, 2008, at his home.
Born April 6, 1926, in Henderson Mounds near East Prairie, to the late Robert Ford Sr. and Myrtle Hubbard Skaggs, he lived all his life in Mississippi and New Madrid counties. He was a retired farmer, a member of the First Church of God in East Prairie and a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.
On Aug 31, 1946, he married Modena Fleming, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Larry "Bud" Hendrix of Manteo, N.C., Pamela J. and Charles "Phillip" Allred of East Prairie; and Sheila and Larry Oldham of Ellsinore; and seven grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home and will continue from 10 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Church of God in East Prairie. Mike Worrell will officiate. Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: John Skaggs, Charles LaPlant, Mike Davis, Josh Oldham and Justin Oldham. Honorary pallbearers will be: Gene Thresher, Larry Thresher, Charles Marshall, Frank Hanor, James Smith and Bob Hanor.
