Running for charity

Sikeston Department of Public Safety Det. John Blakely carries the Missouri Special Olympic Torch during its trek to Columbia Wednesday as part of the statewide Law Enforcement Torch Run. The guiding purpose of the event is to raise funds and awareness for over 14,000 athletes who participate in the Missouri program. The State Summer Games are currently being held at the University of Missouri - Columbia campus, May 24-26. The culmination of the Torch Run - the lighting of the Flame of Hope - will take place during the opening ceremonies.
