EAST PRAIRIE - Graduating exercises for 93 high school seniors will be held here Friday night in the gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. Members of the senior class will present the program. Principal speakers will be Jeanette Butler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.I. Butler, and Sheri Lea Hogan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hogan.
SIKESTON - A meeting of the Economy Opportunity program for Scott County will be held at the Lincoln School at 8 p.m. The meeting will be under the supervision of the Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation, according to Earl L. Williams, executive director.
EAST PRAIRIE - East Prairie guard James Caldwell will man the back court for Southeast Missouri in the Rotary All-Star High School basketball game June 7.
SIKESTON - Gov. Mel Carnahan visited with some of the guests at Thursday evening's Weed and Seed meeting at the new Department of Public Safety Substation. Carnahan gave a brief speech and informed the audience that he and his staff were in very strong support of the Weed and Seed program and offered assistance in every facet.
SIKESTON - The members of the Sikeston track team that qualified for state left for the Missouri State Championships in Jefferson City, Thursday. Team members attending were: Fred Wims, John Sanders, Marshawn West, Robert Mollice, Jennifer Idleman, Andy Jones and Jon Paul Terrell.
SIKESTON - The Rev. Jim and Theresa Calvin will be honored in the 6 p.m. service Sunday at First Assembly of God Church. The couple will be entering into full-time children's ministries. Their "Salvation Safari" will include their daughters, Amanda and Jennifer.
