Sunday, October 23, 2005

SIKESTON - Joseph C. Blanton Jr. was recently appointed to the Montgomery Bank's Board of Directors.

"We are honored and excited that someone with Joe's depth of experience and perspective will offer their talents to the benefit of our employees, customers and shareholders," said Troy Wilson, chief-executive officer, about the appointment. "Montgomery bank has always prided itself on being an active participant in the communities where we live and serve and Joe is certainly testament to that belief. Joe is a great addition to our Board, where local citizens make local decisions for our customers."

Blanton is a partner in the Sikeston law firm of Blanton, Rice, Sidwell, Nickell, Cozean and Collins, where his practice focuses on medical malpractice defense, commercial and banking litigation and federal court litigation. Currently he serves as a member of the board of Governors of the Missouri Bar and the Missouri Supreme Court Civil Rules Committee.

"It is obvious the depth that Joe brings to our Board of Directors," Wilson said. "His career experience is unique and I look forward to putting it to benefit our entire banking corporation."

Blanton is a graduate of Sikeston High School, the University of Virginia, and the University of Texas School of Law. After graduating from law school, he served as law clerk to Stephen N. Limbaugh Sr., U. S. district judge for the Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri.

He and his wife, Felecia, are the parents of Mark David Blanton. The family makes their home in Sikeston.
