PARMA -- Willie Ford, 84, died Jan. 20, 2008, at the Malden Nursing and Rehab Center in Malden.
Born July 24, 1923, in Parma, to the late James Andrew and Colla Burnett Ford, he had lived most of his life in Parma where he had worked as a self-employed brick layer. He served in the U.S. Army in Normandy, North France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was awarded five Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal.
He was first married in Piggott, Ark., to Elouise Allen who preceded him in death on April 22, 1991.
He later married Mary Lynn Melton in Parma. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Allen "Little Boy" Ford of Parma and Paul Ford of Paragould, Ark.; two daughters, Nancy McCarty of Scott City and Verna Klefstad of Ridgeland, Wis.; and 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, James Calvin Ford; one daughter Perdita Fay Roof; one brother, Malcolm Ford; and one sister, Edna Webb.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. today at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Parma where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Mark Powell of Risco officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in the Parma Cemetery.
