DEXTER -- Velma Alene Tucker, 93, died Feb. 22, 2008, at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter.

Born Oct. 6, 1914, in Hardin County, Tenn., to the late Henry and Nola McDaniel Wicker, she had lived in Caruthersville until moving to Dexter in 1951. She was affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

On Aug. 21, 1937, in Caruthersville, she married James Alvin Tucker, who preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1992.

Survivors include: two sons, James Tucker and Glen Tucker of Dexter; two daughters, Betty Barks and Nola Cotner of Hecker, Ill.; four brothers, Herschel Wicker of Sulpher, Okla., Vernon Wicker of Cahokia, Ill., Hayes Wicker of St. Peters and Ernest Wicker of Little Rock, Ark.; one sister, Zelma Elder of Bloomfield; and eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-

great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, five sisters and one grandson, Charles Barks.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Sunday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter until time of graveside services at 2 p.m. in the Hagy Cemetery. The Rev. Don Kennedy of Dexter will officiate.
