SIKESTON -- Mattie L. Riggs, 104, died Aug. 16, 2007, at her home.

Born Nov. 4, 1902, in Greenwood, Miss., daughter of the late Sidney P. and Ella Pearson Woods, she was a resident of Missouri for more than 95 years. She was employed as a nurse-midwife in Scott County for over 32 years and a member of Green Memorial Church of God in Christ, where she was a missionary.

On Sept. 26, 1946, she married Hershel L. Riggs, who preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 1999.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Willie R. and Pauline Riggs and Hershel L. and Edna Riggs of Toledo, Ohio; four daughters and one son-in-

law, Sue Ella Marble and Evangelist Gearlene Luttrell of Sikeston, Evangelist Beatrice Walker of Hermitage, Tenn., and Missionary LeeAlice and Nolan Bishop of Toledo; one brother, Ron Echols of Granville, Mich.; and 31 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. Thursday until service time at 1 p.m. at Green Memorial Church of God in Christ with Charlie Green, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.

Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
