Myrtle Bassett
CAPE GIRARDEAU - Myrtle Virgie Bassett, 93, formerly of Risco, died March 27, 2006, at her home.
Born May 8, 1912, in Lutes, Tenn., daughter of the late Harvey Clarence and Minnie Florence Reautheford Berry, she attended First General Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
On Oct. 2, 1932, in Caraway, Ark., she married Norman Bassett who preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1979.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Allen Berry, Alvie Berry, Walker Berry and Rufus Berry; four sisters, Vada Meadows, Ruby Dildine, Bernice Talkington and Cora Terry; two half brothers, Clarence Berry Jr. and Freddie Ray Berry; and one granddaughter.
Survivors include: four daughters and three sons-in-law, Rita Bond of Mt. Olive, Ill., Mary Lou and Jack Meador of Silva, Anna and Ray Sanders of Cape Girardeau and Linda and Bill Underwood of Arnold; one half sister, Mary Alice Ayers of Waynesboro, Tenn.; and 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden where services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday. The Revs. Larry Danieley and Sam Ramdial will officiate.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
