SIKESTON -- Gary C. Harmon, 65, died July 22, 2007, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City.
Born March 1, 1942, at Lamar, Ark., son of Ruth Thomas Powell of Morrilton, Ark. and the late Floyd Powell, he attended Sikeston Public Schools until entering the U.S. Army in 1960. He was employed by Jarvis Motor Company for 23 years. For the past nine years, he worked for First State Bank in Sikeston, and he was a member of First Baptist Church in Sikeston.
On Jan. 14, 1977, he married Carol West Walker, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Rob Rodgers of Sikeston; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brent and Lori Walker of Lee's Summit and Blake and Lisa Harmon of Overland Park, Kan.; one sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Benny Koontz of Morrillton, Ark.; one stepsister, Anne Steele of Morrillton; two stepbrothers, Benny Powell of Morrilton and Greg Powell of the state of California; one special aunt, Jean Holland of Sikeston; four granddaughters, Alexis Harmon, Lily Walker, Abbye King and Sydney King; and two grandsons, Josh Walker and Zach Walker.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, 1101 North Main, in Sikeston, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. David Jackson of Sikeston will officiate.
Burial with full military honors will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
McGilley and George Funeral Home of Grandview is in charge of arrangements, assisted by Blanchard Funeral Chapel of Sikeston.
