MOREHOUSE - Harvey Franklin "Ben" Roach, 89, died at 1:40 a.m. July 26, 2006, at Sikeston Health Care.

Born Feb. 14, 1917, in Kennett, son of Onley and Betty Snider Roach, he had been employed as a truck driver with Harts Bread, Interstate Bakery and Bunny Bread and worked as a stockman with Goldie's Department Store. A veteran of the United States Army, serving as a Sergeant in the Philippines during World War II, he was a member of Christian Tabernacle Church.

On June 14, 1945, in Morehouse, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Kem, who survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, other survivors include: one son, David Roach of Morehouse; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Herbert R. Brown Jr. of Morehouse and Mary and Jack Summerlott of Sikeston; one sister, Bessie Wright of Sikeston; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. E.J. McDougall, pastor of Christian Tabernacle Church, will officiate.

Burial with Full Military Rites will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
