NEW MADRID - New Madrid County will spend $170,000 for new vehicles for the sheriff's department during 1998. The money, set aside in the recently approved budget, will purchase eight new vehicles used by the sheriff and his deputies.
SIKESTON - DPS and Missouri Highway Patrol were called to the scene of a hazardous material spill at 11 a.m. Saturday. Portions of Highway 60 East were closed to traffic for some time.
SIKESTON - Representatives from the Missouri School Improvement Program were in Sikeston recently visiting with teachers and administration at Sikeston Public Schools. The purpose behind the visit was to evaluate the school system and help maintain education. MSIP makes its way to Missouri schools every five years.
