Bernie man killed in train accideent

BERNIE -- A Bernie man was killed as the result of a vehicle collision near Bernie on Thursday night.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol report said the incident occurred around 10:55 p.m. Thursday on Country Road 784, one mile south of Bernie. A vehicle driven by Kevin G. Hunt, 33, of Bernie, was traveling west and stopped on the railroad tracks. It was then stuck by a northbound vehicle driven by Marcus S. Frey, 50, of Poplar Bluff. The railroad crossing was equpped with flashing signals, a cross arm and bells.

Hunt was pronounced dead at the scene by Stoddard County Coroner Morgan Sifford at 12:40 a.m.

No injuries were reported for Frey.
