CHARLESTON - As one might expect, the reality of being $87,000 richer has not struck home for a 24-year-old Charleston woman, who said today she was still trying to come down to Earth. "I couldn't believe it - it is unbelievable - it is still soaking in," were a few of the comments of the lucky winner, who rubbed off the three $87,000 spaces on her lottery ticket a little before 5 p.m. Tuesday. She was the first winner of the $87,000 top prize in the Missouri Lottery's newest instant game.

SIKESTON - Sandria Costin of Sikeston was honored with a plaque from AmVets Post 149 in recognition of her dedication and hard work for the American veterans. Presenting Mrs. Costin with the plaque was Vice Commander Earl Standridge and Commander Gary "Bo" Ozment.


METROPOLIS, Ill. - The second night of the 14th Annual Massac County Pepsi Superman Classic was not a good one for two Missouri teams. Sikeston and New Madrid County Central both traveled 160 miles, only to fall to the pride of Illinois and Kentucky; Massac County 71, Sikeston 59 and Paducah Tilghman 77, NMCC 54.
