Kelly boys fall to Jackson; girls roll past Bravettes

JACKSON (SMNS) -- Matt Lang scored 17 points, while Marcus Harris, Jake Leet and Hunter Grantham added 15 apiece as the Jackson boys basketball team won its tuneup for district play Saturday.

Jackson earned the 80-57 victory over Kelly.

The Hawks stuck with Jackson through the first quarter, but the Indians (18-7) managed to shake Kelly in the second quarter, opening a 10-point lead at halftime.

Levi Felter had a game-high 22 points for Kelly (10-13) while Josh DeBrock added 18.

Kelly will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Bloomfield.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

BENTON -- Debra Hall poured in 16 points, while Londyn Backfisch added 10 as the Hawks cruised.

Kelly's defense limited the Braves to two points in the fourth quarter as the Hawks improved to 15-6.

Brianna Johnson led Scott County Central (8-11) with 10 points.

Kelly plays at state-ranked Portageville tonight while Scott Central is scheduled to host Caruthersville.
