The Most Improved Base of the Year award is presented to the base in Air Evac Lifeteam that has shown the greatest marked improvements in flight volume growth, staff retention and market expansion during the prior 12 months.
"The Sikeston crew has been the model of consistency during the past year," said Air Evac Vice President and award presenter Steve Bassett.
"With an increased attention on flight marketing and community outreach education programs, the Sikeston base has become a major presence in the area. The crew's knowledge and professionalism, combined with their dedication and tenure with Air Evac, has established a solid credibility with local EMS and health care organizations, making them a viable option and effective partner in patient care for Southeast Missouri."
Also during the banquet, Tina Skimahorn, nurse supervisor with the Poplar Bluff Air Evac Lifeteam crew, was honored as Nurse of the Year. Skimahorn received a plaque in recognition of her distinguished service.
"Tina consistently demonstrates a commitment to their base, patients and customers," said Director of Base Operations and award presenter Steve Bassett. "During the past year, Tina made it her personal goal to strengthen relationships with all partnering EMS agencies and hospitals."
