SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Roy W. Wagner Jr., who have resided in Walnut Ridge, Ark., recently moved to Sikeston and are living in the Noble Apartments on South Kingshighway.

SIKESTON - Several of the miniature golf course at Broadway and East Malone were damaged Thursday night by vandals, police said. G.S. Hornback, owner, said carpeting on the golf course was torn and the damage would probably cost more than $100 to repair.


SIKESTON - Doy F. Gadberry was appointed as Sikeston's new humane officer, city manager W. Raymert Miller said today. The appointment is effective Oct. 3.

SIKESTON - A number of contestants competed for the title of Little Mr. and Miss Soybean as the annual Soybean Festival got under way Monday evening. Chosen to reign over this year's festival as young royalty were Megan Dawn Dover, 4, the daughter of Johnny and Kay Dover of Bell City, and Joshua Foster, 5, the son of Mike and Pat Foster of Campbell.


SIKESTON - Sikeston Economic Development Specialist Mary Doggett, in reviewing her recent industrial trip to Japan, said that she believes the trip will be beneficial in the long run, even though immediate results may not be apparent.

SIKESTON - Sikeston has determined that they do not want to be involved in the two-county E911 system and recently wrote a letter to the Scott County Commission explaining. The letter stated that if the county commissioners chose to go with anything other than a central dispatch system then the city did not want to be involved.


SIKESTON - Heather Herndon was crowned Sikeston Junior Miss Thursday night at the River Birch Mall. Runners up were: Amber Worth, fifth; Alison Wooley, fourth; Diana Walker, third; Candice Morgan, second; and Shannon Shelby, first.
