Dement claims first during Bass tourney

The Bootheel BassBusters held its seventh tournament of the year on Aug. 12 with a weigh-in at Lower Kentucky Dam.

Jerry Dement won the tournament with four bass weighing 6-pounds, 3-ounces. Jimmy Davis was second with two bass weighing 2-pounds, 13-ounces. Shannon Garrett was third with three bass weighing 2-pounds, 11-ounces.

Dement and Davis shared the Big Bass honor with each catching a 1-pound, 13-

ounce fish. Gene See won the Lucky Drawing.

Overall, the fishing was very tough for most contestants because of a combination of a low current, high water temperatures and hot weather making the biting slow.

Leven Cox leads in the Angler-of-the-Year race with 1,224 points. Mitch Allen is second with 1,179 points and Leon Miller is third with 1,163 points.

The club travels to Kentucky Dam for a tournament on Sept. 23 with a weigh-in at KenLake Marina.
