SIKESTON - Gene Truett Shaw, 72, died Feb. 26, 2008, at his home.
Born May 29, 1935, in Bertrand, to the late William Dewey and Florence Covie Truett Shaw, he was a member of Murray Lane Baptist Church. He worked for Century 21 for 27 years and was a member of the Sikeston Masonic Lodge 310 AF and AM and was a 32nd Degree Mason.
He was a member of the Moolah Temple in St. Louis, the Semo Shriners Club, York Rite Bodies, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3319 in Sikeston and the Elks Lodge 2319. He was a past president of the Missouri Board of Realtors and currently served as a local director of the Sikeston Realtors Association Board.
On Nov. 23, 1963, in St. Louis, he married Barbara Anita Hensley, who preceded him in death on July 4, 2005.
One brother, William J. Shaw; and two sisters, Pauline Armstrong and Louise Trousdale, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Gene and Karen Shaw of Fredericktown and William Eugene and Lucy Shaw of St. Louis; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Ron Hill of Wappapello, Anita and Daryl Wade of Advance and Tammy and Mike Strubberg of Gerald; one stepdaughter, Jeanette Stanfill of Fredericktown; five sisters, Lillian Bailey of Wichita, Kan., Ruth Western and Bernice Harris of Sikeston, Edna Fox of Belleville, Ill. and Martha Curtis of Oran; and 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel with Masonic rites at 7:30 p.m. by the Sikeston Lodge. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday in the Nunnelee Chapel with the Rev. Kelley Grubbs of Murray Lane Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Ron Hill, Billy Shaw, Daryl Wade, Michael Wade, Billy Hopper and Robby Grimes.
