NIXA -- Larry Lee Strayhorn Sr., 73, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Feb. 22, 2007.
Born Sept. 24, 1933, in Sikeston, son of the late Chester Lee and Eva Louise Tidwell Strayhorn, he served four years in the U.S. Navy before joining the U.S. Air Force, working in the Pentagon for five years. After serving in the military he worked as a policeman and Missouri highway patrolman before becoming a U.S. Marshal for 27 years. He was a member of the Nixa General Baptist Church.
He was first married to Peggy Strayhorn, who survives. He then married Bobbie Strayhorn, and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Larry Lee Strayhorn Jr.; one daughter, Penny Smith; three stepchildren, Teri Hill, Robert Williams and Duayne Williams; and 11 grandchildren.
One daughter, Lisa Gail Strayhorn, preceded him in death.
Services were Sunday at Adams Funeral Home in Nixa. The Revs. Bob Comer and Don Blansit officiated.
Burial with military honors was conducted Monday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
