LAMAR, Colo. -- The Sikeston 12-year-old all-stars defeated Ottawa, Kan., 6-4 in the first round of the Midwest Plains Regional Tournament on Thursday.

Sikeston will play the host team, Lamar, Cool., today at 1:30.

Sikeston jumped on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning on Tyler Anderson's two-run home run over the right centerfield wall.

Ottawa managed to take a 3-2 in the top of the third inning, but Sikeston tied the score when Lucas Houchin brought in Anderson with a single.

Ottawa took a 4-3 lead in the fourth, but Sikeston took the lead for good on Brandon Goodwin's three-run home run.

Anderson was the winning pitcher, going all six innings and allowing only three hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Goodwin, Anderson, Houchin, Taylor Scott and Cord Sheehy all collected hits for Sikeston.

Sikeston is going for its third straight regional championship.
