BERTRAND - Lendell Hunt, 91, formerly of Bell City and Sikeston, died Feb. 22, 2008, at the Bertrand Nursing Facility.
Born Jan. 16, 1917, in Bertrand to the late WIlliam and Nancy Jane Wood Hunt, he was a self-employed farmer until his retirement. A member of the Garden Ridge General Baptist Church near Bell City, he previously served as Sunday School superintendent and later attended the First Baptist Church of Sikeston.
On April 4, 1936, in Benton, he married Mary Alma Slayden, who preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 1983.
Also he was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include: three sons, Calvin Beach of Mayfield, Ky., Carl Hunt of Bell City and Harold Hunt of Jonesboro, Ark.; two daughters, Linda Wages of Bertrand and Loretta Ellis of Charleston; one sister, Ola Mae Miller of Bertrand; and 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Charles Kohlbaker officiated, assisted by the Rev. Larry Kirby, pastor of Abundant Grace Church in Bertrand.
Burial followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Kevin Hunt, Dale Beach, Wesley McDermott, Christopher West, Matthew West and Nicholas Wages.
